Paragliding & Speedflying — For Women, By Women

This program is about women claiming space in the air through skill, awareness, and self-trust. About learning to navigate risk thoughtfully, move with confidence, and make clear decisions under pressure. Not because we seek danger—but because we respect it.

Girls on Glide exists to give women the tools, mentorship, and access to step into that role—together.

Flight has never belonged to one type of body, background, or personality. This program exists to make sure women have real access to the skills, mentorship, and airtime needed to fly—safely, confidently, and on their own terms.

We are a donation-based, paragliding to speedflying program created to help more women get into air sports.
Raven Wolf Sky Sports and Cynthia Currie have been gifting one and sometimes more scholarships a year for the last decade - See some of our alumni below.

We are now partnering with USHPA Women’s Committee and Women of SpeedFlying to get more traction and spread the word far and wide. Next year we plan to offer international courses!

What We Do

We teach women how to fly.

From first inflation to controlled flight, landing, and progression into speedflying, our courses focus on skill, judgment, and self-trust. Instruction is hands-on, deliberate, and grounded in safety—not bravado.

Girls on Glide was dreamt up and is supported by women instructors, women mentors, coaches, and pilots guiding the process. Representation matters. So does lived experience.

Why This Program Exists

Paragliding and speedflying are still male-dominated sports—not because women lack ability, but because access and opportunity have been uneven.

We believe:

  • Women deserve high-quality instruction without intimidation

  • Women learn best in environments where questions are welcomed

  • Women should see themselves reflected in instructors and role models

  • Financial limitations should not determine who gets to fly

This program exists to change the shape of the launch.

  • Application Deadline: Feb 20, 2026

  • Winner Announcement: March 5, 2026

Who This Is For

  • Women who have always wanted to fly

  • Women curious about paragliding or speedflying but unsure where to start

  • Women seeking a safer, more supportive entry into airsports

  • Women ready to build skills, not just collect experiences

No prior flight experience required. Curiosity and commitment are enough.

Course Details

  • When: Available in April - May 2026 (You can stay as long as you like but expect to be there at least 2 weeks to obtain your certification)

  • Where: Monterey California (accommodations not provided)

Gear Requirements

You'll be provided gear to learn with but you must be committed to purchasing gear upon course completion whether through the school or with the help of the school on the used market.

In the future Girls on Glide plans to have the funding to support gear purchases as well for qualified LadyBirds.

This scholarship is for a lady who's serious about free flight and plans to be in it for the long haul, this is not for someone looking for a quick getaway to do something fun and new.

How It Works

  • Donation-based participation — pay what you can, supported by community contributions

  • Small group instruction — personalized coaching and real mentorship

  • Progression-focused training — not just airtime, but skill-building

  • Supportive, non-competitive environment — confidence grows faster when pressure is removed

Donations directly fund training days, gear access, instructor time, and scholarships for women who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to fly.

Support the Program

Your donation doesn’t just fund lessons—it changes who gets access to the sky.

By supporting this program, you’re helping build a future where women are not the exception on launch, but a visible, skilled, and confident part of the flying community.

Support Project Valkyrie

This is not a “try it once” experience.
This is real training, real progression, and real support.
